Sewing Co. is a Gisborne based business offering services for the fashion industry. We patternmake, sew, produce, create spec sheets, carry out fit meetings and much much more. We believe in excellent craftsmanship. We care about our work and do not sacrifice quality for speed. We seek clients who value our labour and skill and share in our passion for sustainable and ethical fashion.
We might be tucked away on the East Coast but that doesn't mean we can't help! We work with clients throughout NZ so please don't hesitate to get in touch, wherever you are from!

ABOUT ME
My name is Xanthe Dunn and I am the owner/operator of Sewing Co.
I live in Gisborne with my husband Lachy, our beautiful baby girl Frankie, our very fluffy dog Luna and equally fluffy cat Beans.
I have been sewing since I was 11 years old and my mother gave me her old Bernina 830. I spent hours after school pottering and playing with different techniques, including making my year 15 ball dress.
After a 2 year Diploma of Fashion and Textiles at Northtec and a 4 year Degree of Fine Arts majoring in Fashion I started my career working for High Society, a NZ made designer company that had been running for over 45 years.
After 3 years working in most areas of the company including designer's assistant, graphic designer, patternmaking, sample sewing, QCing and much much more, I decided to move to Melbourne for a while. There, I launched, ran and sold a business called Melbourne Sewing and Patternmaking which is still running today.
In 2020, returning home to NZ, I started Sewing Co. I want to make NZ-made as accessible as possible and to encourage a slower more caring and transparent fashion industry. This means no minimum order quantities, help throughout as many processes as we can, finding others who can help where my services might not be suitable. Sewing Co. is part of a wonderful organisation called Mindful Fashion NZ
